Thinking about garage floor coatings in Severance? Whether you’re building a new home or upgrading your existing garage, we know it can feel overwhelming to choose the right flooring. At NuWave Garages, we’ve worked with dozens of homeowners in Severance and nearby communities, and these are the top five questions we get asked the most.
1. What’s the difference between epoxy and polyaspartic coatings?
This one comes up all the time! While people commonly say “epoxy floors,” we actually install polyaspartic coating systems—and for good reason. They cure faster, resist yellowing, and hold up better against wear, tear, and UV exposure.
That doesn’t mean epoxy isn’t a legitimate choice—it is. Epoxy goes on thicker and dries harder, but that also makes it more brittle, especially in climates like Severance where freeze/thaw cycles and concrete settling are common. Cracks and chips can show up sooner than you’d expect.
Polyaspartic is more flexible and can better move with your concrete, not against it. It also holds up beautifully to Colorado winters, hot tires, and heavy use—making it our go-to system.
2. Do garage floor coatings work well in our weather?
They sure do—when the right product is used. Our polyaspartic floors are ideal for Severance’s weather swings, from cold, icy mornings to blazing summer afternoons.
The coatings are non-porous and waterproof, which helps protect against snowmelt, road salt, and magnesium chloride—a chemical de-icer that’s tough on untreated concrete. Our floors also resist UV rays, so they won’t yellow or fade in the sun. That means your garage floor stays looking fresh year-round.
3. How long does the installation take?
Most installs in Severance are done in two days. On day one, we grind and prep the surface, patch any cracks or damage, apply the basecoat, and broadcast the decorative flake. On day two, we return to scrape and clean the surface, then apply the clear topcoat.
We know it’s tempting to choose a company that offers same-day installation, but we don’t rush it. Taking two days gives each layer time to properly cure, which results in better adhesion, longevity, and performance. Simply put: we don’t cut corners—ever.

4. Is it easy to clean and maintain?
Very! For daily upkeep, just sweep or pick up any sharp debris like nails or screws, and wipe up spills when you see them.
For a deeper clean, we recommend a mop with mild soap or a pH-neutral cleaner (like Simple Green). If you prefer, you can also use a power washer—just be sure to use a wide-angle tip, low pressure, and keep your distance.
Compared to raw concrete, which traps dirt and stains easily, a properly installed polyaspartic floor is much easier to clean and keep looking great.

5. Is it slippery?
All of our floors include a full broadcast of decorative flake, which adds both color and texture—and provides natural traction.
That said, every surface has the potential to be slippery when wet, but polyaspartic flooring is anti-slip by nature. And if you need extra grip for a workspace, wet area, or high-traffic zone, we can include a traction additive in the topcoat for added safety.
